I was born and raised on a small farm in northwest Missouri. I put myself through college working as a farm-hand, plumber/ditch-digger, and railroad section hand for the CB&Q railroad. At the Univ. of Missouri-Columbia, I majored in accounting and received my BS in 1964. I worked for a chemical company as plant accountant, A/P supervisor, and divisional controller from 1964 to 2001, both in St. Louis and in Raleigh, North Carolina. I received my MBA from the Univ. of Missouri-St. Louis in 1980, and CPA in 1981. I also taught accounting part-time at a junior college.
Soon after moving to St. Louis from college, a friend invited me to church, where I met Bonnie, my wife of 50 years. We have two grown children, Rachel and David.
As I was growing up, I was not a regular church-attender, usually just Christmas and Easter. While in college, a friend invited me to church. I felt a need, an emptiness, but at church I felt the welcoming presence of God. I received Jesus in my heart as Savior and was baptized at the age of 19. I participated in youth groups and choir trips. I have been the treasurer at Faith since 2004. I have been a member of several Faith Communities, served at VBS, Kids Ministries, and currently have led a Faith Community outreach at National Church Residences for about two years.
