I was born into a “church-going” family. My mom took me and my two sisters to church at the small Baptist church in our town and I went to Sunday School every week. My dad, when he went, attended a Lutheran church with my grandparents. Like a lot of teenagers, I moved away from my faith for a long time. Getting married in my twenties to my first husband in a Catholic church didn’t really encourage me to begin practicing my faith; too many rules. After I met Gerhard at age 30 (I believe by divine appointment), we were married in a Lutheran church – a good compromise between Baptist and Catholic! We had our first child, Annalies, just shy of our first anniversary and a second one, Matthaeus, shortly after that.
As a Mary Kay consultant for over 20 years, I was surrounded by Christians. God placed an amazing person in my life that challenged me and led me to Christ again. A chance meeting with a new customer led us to Faith and we felt at home the moment we walked in the door. There was never a thought over the last 20 years that we needed to be anywhere else.
Hope for Faith - Columbia
Faith – Columbia has become an extended family to us. Gerhard envisioned the growth of Columbia from the beginning, and I’m so happy to be part of what God is doing in the hearts and minds of the community there. As a worshipper at Faith since 1996, and staff member since 2008, my hope for Faith is that we are building bold disciples and helping others to see God’s love. The connections we have made is one of the greatest joys that have come out of our time here. I can’t wait to see where God leads our church next!
